Inkuбator

Seven-day intensives

Three participants, one mentor, seven days. Masterclasses and laboratories for focused work in a remote village in central Bosnia.

Format 3 + 1, seven days
Location Mijakovići
Structure Masterclass + laboratory

The word "incubator" carries, today, associations with startup culture: acceleration, scaling, metrics. The original meaning is simpler. A protected space for something not yet strong enough to survive outside.

This older sense feels worth holding onto.

The micro-principle

Inkubator

Three participants, one mentor, seven days. The structure emerged from practical questions. What scale allows real exchange? What constellation avoids the anonymity of larger groups without collapsing into the pressure of one-on-one?

There is no claim here that this formula is optimal. Only that it has proven, so far, to create conditions for a particular quality of attention.

Limitation, in this context, constitutes a deliberate orientation of focus. A small number of people can go deeper than a large number. This is often true, and it shapes the thinking here.

Why here?

Mijakovići is a village near the medieval site of Bobovac in central Bosnia. Public transport runs once daily to Vareš and back. Sarajevo is ninety minutes by car.

Why here? Partly circumstance: this is where the house is. Distance from infrastructure also creates a kind of clarity.

The place carries history. Bosnia is a region shaped by fracture: political, cultural, linguistic. The work exists within this complexity without romanticising or instrumentalising it. Simply: this is the ground.

Values as practice

Certain values guide the practice.

Measure. Doing what is necessary. Resisting the tendency toward accumulation, inflation, excess. This applies to programming, to communication, to the number of things attempted at once.
Truthfulness. Honesty about what is working and what fails. About what we know and do not know. The willingness to say "I don't know" is, in pedagogical contexts, often more valuable than the appearance of certainty.
Solidarity. An economic structure where those who can pay more enable others to participate. Mutual implication. The sliding scale is part of the design.

These are practices to attempt, fail at, and attempt again.

What happens in seven days? Sometimes a great deal. Sometimes less than expected. The format offers time, structure, and proximity. What is made of these remains open.

The formats

Under this framework, different formats develop.
