Odjeci

Sound Art Fellowship

Odjeci is a programme of Zvjezdane Staze, hosting four two-week residencies a year in the rhythm of the seasons, for composers and sound artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Kosovo, and the diaspora. Each residency brings one to three artists to Mijakovići, where they live and work together, each on their own project and in exchange with the others.

The programme

The programme begins in summer 2026, structured around the year's four seasons. The work that can take form here encompasses the full range of contemporary sound art: composition, sound installation, phonography, acoustic ecology, sonic research, and the porous areas where these fields meet.

The fellowship is directed at artists whose work engages, in a conceptual register, with the layered realities of the region in their broadest form: nature and history, languages and culture, memory and its generational transmission. Sound is the medium that carries this engagement; the thematic ground is for the artists to define.

Recordings, compositions, and documentation produced during the residency enter the Zvjezdane Staze archive, from which selected pieces later become part of the Zvjezdane·Zvuчne·Staze audio walk, a permanent installation along the circular path between Mijakovići and the ruins of Bobovac fortress.

Who can apply

Artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Kosovo, and the diaspora, working with sound as primary medium. Emerging and established practices equally welcome. Artist collectives are also welcome to apply.

What we provide

Accommodation at Zvjezdane Staze for two weeks, with access to the studio equipment, curatorial support and documentation of work in progress, as well as informal activities and introduction to the local context. Zvjezdane Staze does not cover travel costs, food, or materials; our funding guide lists mobility grants from across Europe that can help.
